Streamlining Single User to Network Conversions

June 28, 2017

Currently, for customers with an active Maintenance & Support (M&S) contract, the conversion of Single User Licenses into a Network License includes partial (or prorated) credit of the existing Single User M&S contract. This complexity can make quoting/billing more time consuming than it needs to be.

From July 25 2017, conversions to a Network License will no longer be prorated for partial crediting, so expect faster quoting and more streamlined billing. This policy also applies to Single User Licenses merging onto an existing Network License; there will be no crediting of existing M&S.

What exactly does this mean?

For a customer without active M&S contract…
Before conversion, Single User Licenses need to be ‘current’ ie. upgraded with reinstatement fee and M&S. This M&S will be credited back, as long as the conversion is completed on the same date. The 1 year Network License M&S contract is added.

EXAMPLE
A customer, whose M&S expired more than 1 year ago wants to convert 10 Single User Licenses to a 10 seat Network License.

10x Single User reinstatement fee @ $120
10x Network M&S contract @ $200
10x Network conversion fee @ $800

As a formality, the following will appear on the order but will have no impact on the final price.

10x Single User M&S contract @ $120
10x Single User M&S contract credited back @ -$120

Final Cost: 1200 + 2000 + 8000 + (1200 - 1200) = $11200 (+tax)

For a customer with an active M&S contract…
There will be no crediting back of the unused Single User M&S. This customer will pay the conversion fee, as well as, 1 year Network License M&S Contract.

EXAMPLE
A customer, whose M&S contract still has 5 months until expiration, wants to convert 10 Single User Licenses to a 10 seat Network License.

10x Network M&S contract @ $200
10x Network conversion fee @ $800

There is no crediting of the old M&S contract

Final cost: 2000 + 8000 = $10000 (+tax)

These changes will be made live in the portal from July 25 2017.
