SketchUp for Schools launched

At Trimble, we believe everyone should have access to 3D modelling tools that enable creative expression and skill development from a young age. That’s why we are so excited to announce the launch of SketchUp for Schools as a public beta!

SketchUp for Schools offers in-browser 3D modelling to all Primary and Secondary School students using G Suite for Education. It is open to all countries in which G Suite for Education is currently available, however, the interface is English-only at this time.

Key points:

  • SketchUp’s core modelling tools available in a web browser for any Primary or Secondary School signed up to G Suite for Education

  • Integration with Google Drive and Google Classroom

  • Works on Chromebooks or any internet-connected computer
 with mouse and keyboard input

  • Available through the G Suite for Education Apps Marketplace or Chrome Web Store

SketchUp for Schools will be in public beta for the next few months. We are still working on some key functionality, like 3D printing, but we encourage educators to give it a go and begin to think about how 3D might play out in their curriculum. If you have feedback, let us know! We need input to help us build the best tool possible for the next generation of designers and makers.
